Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- Β½ teaspoon paprika
- Β½ teaspoon chili powder
- Β½ teaspoon salt
- Β½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce (optional)
- Β½ cup frozen peas (optional)
- 1 egg

Step 1: Prepare the Beef Filling
- In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until soft, about 3 minutes.
- Add the garlic, ground beef, cumin, paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until beef is browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
- Stir in the tomato paste and soy sauce (if using). Add the peas and cook for 2-3 more minutes. Remove from heat and let the filling cool.
Step 2: Assemble the Empanadas
- Lay out the empanada dough rounds on a flat surface.
- Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the beef mixture into the center of each round.
- Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape, pressing the edges together to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges.
Step 3: Air Fry the Empanadas
- Preheat your air fryer to 375Β°F (190Β°C) for 3 minutes.
- Brush the tops of the empanadas with beaten egg to give them a golden color when cooking.
- Place the empanadas in the air fryer basket, making sure they arenβt overcrowded.
- Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden and crispy.
